Bull shark feeding dive in Playa del Carmen
This is the most intense encounter in the catalogue. Deeper down, a specialist feeder in a chain-mail suit conducts a feed under strict protocol while the group holds formation at a safe distance. The sharks approach directly and under control: you see the muscle, the skin, the eye. It is not for everyone, and it should not be.

How the day works, step by step
- Meeting point. Playa del Carmen Marina.
- Safety briefing. The critical part: group position, buoyancy management, what to do if a shark approaches and the feeder's signals.
- Descent. Controlled descent along the line to the feeding area.
- The dive. The group forms a semicircle. The feeder works ahead while you observe behaviour at close range.
- Ascent. Orderly ascent with safety stop and return to the boat.
- Wrap-up. Back to the marina. Total duration around 2 hours.

Requirements
Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent), good buoyancy control and demonstrable recent experience, or a prior refresher. Seasonal activity: November to March.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Advanced required?
Because of the depth and because you need fine buoyancy control: on this dive you cannot leave your position or touch the bottom. A diver without that control puts the group at risk.
Is this a responsible practice?
It is run under professional protocol, with limited quantities and specialist supervision, prioritising the animal's welfare. If you would rather have a bait-free experience, the natural observation dive is the alternative.
Can I do the observation dive first?
That is exactly what we recommend: do the observation dive, see how you feel around the animals, and if you want to go further, book the feeding dive the next day.
