MUSA Cancun diving: underwater museum + reef

More than five hundred coral-covered sculptures rest at nine metres in clear, current-free water — perfect for a long, photogenic dive. We pair it with a second dive on a natural reef, where the turtles show up.

How the day works, step by step
- Meeting point. We meet at Marina Aquafun in Cancun's Hotel Zone. Check-in, gear assignment and sizing.
- Briefing. Dive plan, hand signals, maximum depth and museum route. Safety review and gear assembly.
- Dive 1 · MUSA. Descent onto the Salón Manchones sculpture gallery. Guided route among the coral-encrusted figures.
- Surface interval. Surface interval on board, with water for hydration, while the boat moves to the second dive site.
- Dive 2 · Reef. Natural reef inside the marine park, with a profile that can reach around 16 metres. Turtles, rays, French grunt schools, snapper and angelfish.
- Return. Back to the marina, gear rinse and farewell. Total duration around 4 hours.

Frequently asked questions
How deep are the MUSA sculptures?
The main gallery, Salón Manchones, sits at around 8–9 metres. It is a very comfortable depth that allows long dives and plenty of natural light for photography.
Can I dive MUSA without certification?
Yes, but on a different programme: the Cancun Discover Scuba Diving experience includes MUSA with an instructor beside you. This two-tank trip is for certified divers.
Can you snorkel MUSA?
A few pieces in the shallow gallery are visible from the surface, but the main collection is at nine metres and is only properly enjoyed on scuba.
Does the trip cover only MUSA or the reef too?
Both. It is two dives on the same trip: the first at the Underwater Museum of Art, at around 9 metres, and the second on a natural reef inside the marine park, where the profile can reach about 16 metres. It is not a single-site trip.
How much does it cost to dive MUSA in Cancun?
US$145 per person with us, covering both dives, a certified guide, full equipment and marina and marine park fees. Booking direct avoids the booking platforms' commission.
