Diving Puerto Morelos Reef National Park

If you want the healthiest, calmest reef in the area, this is it. Puerto Morelos Reef National Park protects a stretch of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef with shallow depths, gentle current and visibility that makes everything look closer. It is the best site on the coast for newly certified divers and for photography.

What makes this dive different

  • Protected reef inside a National Park
  • Comfortable depths (8–14 m) and very gentle currents
  • Ideal for newly certified divers and underwater photography

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is it a good site if I just got certified?
Probably the best on the coast. Shallow depth, minimal current and high visibility let you focus on buoyancy and simply enjoy it.
Why is the reef so well preserved?
It has been a National Park since 1998: visitor limits, mooring buoys so boats never anchor on coral, and a ban on touching or taking anything.
How far is it from Cancun?
About 30 minutes by car from the Hotel Zone. We can quote transport if you need it.

“Excellent experience! Rene is a brilliant guide — you can tell he loves what he does and passes on his passion for the sea and marine life at every moment. His instructions and dive plan before every dive make you feel safe and let you enjoy the flora and fauna even more. Highly recommended, I already want to plan new dive trips!”
