Diving in Cozumel: 2-tank drift dive

For many divers Cozumel is the best destination in Mexico and one of the best in the world. Walls dropping into the blue, coral swim-throughs, giant sponges and visibility that routinely exceeds thirty metres. And above all the drift: the current carries you while you simply float and the reef parades past. Diving here resets what you expect from a dive.

What makes this dive different

  • Two drift dives inside Cozumel National Marine Park
  • Typical visibility over 30 metres
  • Walls, canyons and coral swim-throughs at sites like Palancar and Santa Rosa
  • Turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks and big schools
  • Marina and marine park fees included

  3. Dive 1 · Wall. Deeper site such as Palancar or Santa Rosa: wall, canyons and formations.
  4. Surface interval. Hydration on board while we move to the second site.
  5. Dive 2 · Shallow reef. Brighter, shallower reef to finish with a long bottom time.
  6. Return. Back to the marina and gear rinse. Total duration around 5 hours.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is drift diving difficult?
It is one of the most comfortable dives there is: you let the current carry you without swimming and the boat collects you wherever you surface. You only need decent buoyancy control to hold your depth.
How do I get to Cozumel from Cancun?
By car or shuttle to Playa del Carmen, then the ferry to Cozumel (about 45 minutes). We can quote the full transfer if you need it.
When is the best time to dive Cozumel?
It dives well all year with excellent visibility. The lower-wind months tend to give even calmer conditions.
