How the day works, step by step
- Departure. Early departure from Cancun or the Riviera Maya.
- Briefing. Mix analysis, Nitrox depth limits, gas plan and cavern rules.
- Dive 1 · Azul Ha. Descent into the deep cenote, with light play and formations.
- Surface interval. Snack and second-profile planning.
- Dive 2 · Zapote. Hell's Bells zone and the hydrogen sulphide cloud.
- Lunch. Light lunch after the second dive: sandwich and drinks.
- Return. Back to the start point. Total duration around 7 hours.

Requirements
Special departure available exclusively to divers who have previously completed at least one cenote dive experience with Scuba Adventours Mexico. This lets us know your experience, buoyancy control and comfort in the environment beforehand. In addition: Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air (Nitrox) certifications, plus recent experience. If you need the Nitrox speciality we can run it before the trip.
This trip needs a minimum of 2 divers. If you are travelling alone you can still book by adding US$71 (MX$1,200), and you dive with a private guide dedicated to you.

Frequently asked questions
What does Nitrox add in a cenote?
By reducing the nitrogen fraction it extends the no-decompression limit at these depths. In practice: more minutes down there and less post-dive fatigue.
What if I do not have the Nitrox certification?
We can run the PADI Enriched Air speciality before the trip; it is a short course with no mandatory dives. Message us and we will arrange it.
Can I do it without Nitrox?
A non-Nitrox version of Zapote is available on the Kin Ha + Zapote trip. This trip is designed specifically around the mix.
Why is this trip only for divers who already dived cenotes with you?
Because these are two deep cenotes on Nitrox and we need to have seen your buoyancy control and comfort in the cavern environment first. If you have not dived cenotes with us yet, start with Dos Ojos or Kin Ha + Zapote and we will arrange this trip afterwards.
Is there a halocline at Azul Ha and Zapote?
The visible layer on this trip is the hydrogen sulphide cloud, formed by organic matter decomposing in low-oxygen conditions. It is what wraps around the Hell's Bells at Zapote.
