Diving in Cabo Pulmo: two dives from the boat

5.0★ · 242 Google reviews

The Sea of Cortez carries a name that shows up in every diving book: the World's Aquarium. Cabo Pulmo is the reason. Two guided boat dives inside a national park where marine life came back and, quite literally, multiplied.

What makes this dive different

  • Two guided boat dives inside Cabo Pulmo National Park
  • One of the oldest hard-coral reefs on the American Pacific coast, around 20,000 years old
  • Schools of jacks that form living walls — the signature of this site
  • Dive gear and National Park access included
  • Two daily time slots to fit your Baja itinerary

How the day works, step by step

  1. Check-in and set-up. We meet at Cabo Pulmo Travel at the agreed time, 7:30 or 12:30. Your certification and recent experience are checked and gear is fitted. That is arrival time, not departure time.
  2. Dive plan. The guide covers the plan, hand signals and the rules for protecting the reef inside the park.
  3. Boat ride and first dive. We head to one of the sites available that day and descend with the guide.
  4. Surface interval. Rest between dives, with water and a snack on board.
  5. Second dive. We continue according to the plan and the day's conditions.
  6. Return. Back to the departure point. Total duration around 4 hours.

What you will see

“I had an excellent experience with Scuba & Adventours Mexico starting my PADI Open Water Diver certification. Everything was explained very clearly and all my questions were answered along the way. Instructor René has a real talent for explaining things simply and clearly.”

“My first time in the diving world! I'm so grateful because my experience with Scuba was incredible — the support and professionalism of René, Delfina and captain Larry make you feel safe at every step. I'll definitely be back with them to certify.”

“I did the Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses and it was an excellent decision. The service was great, my guide Rene was incredible — always attentive and giving me techniques to build confidence underwater. The most exciting part was diving with bull sharks and dolphins!”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be certified?
Yes. This trip is for Open Water certified divers or above, from any agency. With no certification, the equivalent experience is Discover Scuba in Cabo Pulmo, which starts with a class and shallow-water practice.
I was certified recently — can I come?
Yes. An Open Water card is enough. The guide matches the site and the depth to your experience, and that matching is part of the service, not a favour.
It has been more than six months since my last dive
Then we run a same-day refresher for US$36 extra. You review skills and get your confidence back before descending. It is not paperwork: at 18 metres it shows who has not geared up in a year.
Can I pick a specific site?
You can tell us your preferences, but we cannot promise them: sites are assigned day by day according to park availability and sea conditions. It is a protected area and capacity management is not ours to decide.
What are the time slots?
Check-in at 7:30 or 12:30, Cabo Pulmo local time, subject to availability. That is the arrival time for gear and briefing, not the time the boat leaves.
How long is each dive?
Between 40 and 50 minutes on average, though it depends on the plan, your air consumption and conditions. Nobody serious promises a fixed bottom time.
