PADI Advanced Open Water course in Cancun

The Advanced is not a theory course: it is five dives where you learn by diving. When you finish you can go to thirty metres, and that unlocks exactly what is most spectacular about the Mexican Caribbean: The Pit, Zapote's Hell's Bells, the Cancun wreck and the bull shark feeding dive.

What makes this dive different

  • Qualifies you to 30 metres
  • No exams — you learn across 5 adventure dives
  • Deep and navigation are mandatory, plus 3 specialities you choose
  • Unlocks deep cenotes, the wreck and bull shark diving
  • 2 to 3 days with a certified instructor

How the day works, step by step

  1. Planning. We choose your 3 optional specialities together: peak performance buoyancy, reef, night, fish identification, naturalist or underwater photography.
  2. Deep dive. Mandatory. Controlled descent beyond 18 metres, gas management and depth effects.
  3. Navigation dive. Mandatory. Compass, navigation patterns and natural references.
  4. 3 adventure dives. The specialities you selected, at the best sites available for the dates and conditions.
  5. Certification. We process your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need many dives before the Advanced?
There is no minimum logged-dive requirement — being Open Water certified is enough. That said, the more dives you have, the more you get out of the course.
Which specialities do you recommend?
For the Mexican Caribbean: peak performance buoyancy (it changes your whole diving), naturalist or fish identification, and night. If cenotes are your goal, buoyancy is essentially mandatory.
Can I do it straight after the Open Water?
Yes, and many do. It is the fastest way to go from zero to diving the most spectacular sites in the area within a single week.

“Excellent experience! Rene is a brilliant guide — you can tell he loves what he does and passes on his passion for the sea and marine life at every moment. His instructions and dive plan before every dive make you feel safe and let you enjoy the flora and fauna even more. Highly recommended, I already want to plan new dive trips!”
